I am sure y’all are wondering how this came about.
Was watching the news yesterday when this caught my eye…
A 16 year old girl was kidnapped gang raped and burned to death in Jharkhand State in India
Sad isn’t it.
Gang rape in India is a widely accepted way of punishing girls/women when they have done something wrong or a way of teaching the said girl a lesson after a row or
I hear stories like this all the time and it beats me why we are still here in 2018.
The men were caught and the elders of the Village asked the men to pay a fine and perform a 100 sit up as a punishment for raping a 16year old teenager.
How…..
Why…..
What….
A sixteen year old girl with so much to offer, One minute she was bubbling with life, Full of plans, probably had written down goals, Probably writing her GCSE’s hoping to go to College and do something worth her while…
The next minute this young girl is dead… A death that could have been avoided..
A wicked kind of death.
A death that isn’t necessary.
A family has just been thrown into utmost darkness.
A mum is left with answers, Her brothers and sisters will never see her again.
What did her murders get
£552 monetary Fine and 100 sit ups.
Tell me why such Men won’t commit such a crime again.
I don’t know how we are going to stop this menace however, We can talk about it, we can Campaign about it, we can pull our weight from every corner of the world.
Hundreds of girls are being raped in Asia (India and Pakistani) on a daily basis.
The other day it was a 6year old girl in Pakistani.
A 6year old
What has a 6year old girl done to deserve to be raped.
No one even deserves to be raped regardless of their age.
Enough is Enough.
Let’s stand together
Let’s speak out
Let’s pray for our sisters in Asia.
Let’s be their advocate.
Let’s stick together
Let’s stand for one another
Let’s end the culture of Rape altogether..
I’m looking forward to going to India.
Hold and hug those girls, to tell them they aren’t alone.
Heartbreaking and shameful.
I have so many questions
How can we protect these girls?
We can by raising our voices
By reaching out…
I want to go to Mumbai one day and hold a Campaign against Rape. Probably meet with people in government and work out how we can effect change. Change constitutional laws in regards to stricter punishments for people who perpetrate this evil.
Comb communities and Villages, change people’s mindset about Rape and sexual violence.
This is my outcry and it will happen.
But in the meantime, I will sit tight, teach and educate my nation until we reach the right quarters.
I won’t stop talking and advocating for these girls.
This story is just one out of the thousands of girls that are raped and probably killed on a daily basis in this part of the world.
Destinies are been cut short, Lives are been destroyed.
We can’t stop wars from happening
We sometimes can’t stop natural disasters from happening
However we can stop young girls from getting raped and killed.
We can.
Yes we can.
100 sit ups seriously….
Let me stop here.
I’m tired, I am sad.
Prayers for the families of the young girl.
I pray for strength
I pray for peace
I pray God’s arms envelop them
Her death will be known for change in that particular community.
I pray they find Justice.
I pray for forgiveness.
Peace be still.
Until I come your way I am IfeOluwa and I detest Rape.
This is just sad 😔 God heal our world
100 sit ups!!!! As in???? 😳😳😳
Words fail me 🙁🙁🙁🙁
No matter how few we may be, just as long as we have the like mind to stand against sexual violence, there is bound to be a great impact. Together we stand to make the world a better place.
