Last week weekend in August, Tasha Cobbs Leonard one of my favourite artiste released her new album titled “Heart. Passion. Pursuit.”
In one of the songs titled “Gracefully broken”
She said and I quote
” God will break you to position you, He will break you to promote you, He will break you to put you in the right place.
But when He breaks you, He doesn’t hurt you, He does it with grace.
Gracefully Broken.
Let me take us back to the popular bible story, the story of Joseph, Joseph was loved by His father. He had a dream that the eleven stars and the moon bowed down to him. The eleven stars representing His brothers and the moon representing His Father. His brother’s jealousy and hate for him grew after he told them about the dream. They therefore conspired to kill him but at the last minute they changed their minds instead they sold him into slavery.
Whilst serving as a slave in Egypt, He ended up in the house of Potiphar a very influential man in the Egyptian government at the time, Potiphar liked Joesph a lot and trusted him with everything. Potiphar’s wife in return tried to lure Him into Her bed but He refused, she then decided to turn the tables on Him by telling Her husband that Joseph forced Himself on Her.
- Potiphar is a very powerful man in Egypt at the time
- He trusted Joseph with everything he had.
Here is my thoughts, Joesph would have died on two ocassions. His brothers could have killed him initially instead of selling Him into slavery of a fact they lied to their father that He was killed by a wild animal and they showed their father the evidence by soaking his clothes in the blood of a wild animal.
The second occasion was when Potiphar discovered that Joseph had forced Himself on His wife, He could have had him killed. If I was a man who isn’t even as powerful as Potiphar and my servant forced himself on my wife. I don’t think I would be locking him in jail…….. 😌
But Grace said NO…….. Grace intervened on Joseph’s behalf. God had a different plan and everything He went through was all part of the process, the grand plan that God has for the nation of Israel altogether.
He ended up in prison because that was part of His success story. Potiphar didn’t kill Joesph because God had a plan. He gracefully broke him to promote him.
Joseph ended up in the palace, He could have died during those hard times.
I sometimes wonder how Potiphar would have felt when Joseph became the prime Minister of Egypt lol😃
When you are going through difficulties, andit looks like the world is caving on you, remember God is gracefully breaking you to promote you, or to put you in the right place.
Everytime you come out of a storm alive, You have automatically moved to the next level.
Embrace your scars its all part of the grace story.
My scars remind me of grace.
I am gracefully broken.
The Chorus to the song says
“Here I am Lord, Arms wide open, Pouring out my life, GRACEFULLY BROKEN”
This is my testimony.
I am gracefully broken………
This has left me feeling refreshed, thanx sis for the write up, I am gracefully broken.
This is so encouraging. Thank you 🙂
