Earlier on this week, whilst picking up my son from nursery, my daughter asked to ride her scooter and I obliged her. She enjoys riding her scooter, and the expertise with which she rides the scooter is amazing.

Let us say the power of practice: she’s had about 4 to 5years of practice hence she has mastered all sorts of maneuvers. She would twist around in circles and ride with one leg in the air and I find it quite impressive some of the things she had mastered by riding over the years.

(Little Miss J when she was 3☝🏽☝🏽)

On our way back home on this particular day, whilst riding the scooter she kept looking back trying to giggle at her brother whilst riding the scooter. I told her a few times to focus on riding rather than trying to do something else.

Typical of a 7 year old She didn’t listen and because she got away with it a few times, she continued but just as we were approaching home she fell and hurt herself.

In that moment of hurt and pain, she looked at me and said: Mummy you were right I should have focused on riding. I looked at her smiled and I said lesson learned right she nodded and smiled.

A few hugs and kisses made the hurt go away.

I was glad she learnt her lesson but sad she had to get hurt before she did.

Sometimes in life, Lessons are learned in a hard way.

A major lesson that I learned from this whole experience is that when running a race:-

“Don’t stop to look back”

You gotta keep it moving baby!

When you look back you will lose focus, fall and hurt yourself and it will take time to recover and then have to start all over again.

It’s okay to fall however If you can avoid falling please do.

Keep your focus on the race, stick to the plan, keep your eyes on the prize and keep moving.

When my little Miss J hurt her knee, she couldn’t enjoy the rest of the ride back home. Not only that, I had to carry the scooter while her younger brother was clinging to me as well. Making the journey back home more difficult for me.

When you fall, most of the time it doesn’t just affect you, it also affects the people around you, it affects the nations that God has put in your care, people around you has to pick up the slack making the journey ten times harder than it should be.

These distractions comes in various shapes and sizes, Addictions, bad habits, bad characters, abusive relationships, constantly doing the same things and expecting the different results, Social media, to name but a few.

You can’t afford it so stop allowing it”

Dear Survivor, on your journey to healing don’t look back. It will take a lot of determination and perseverance but keep it moving, keep going, don’t settle for less.

Spring up and grow into greatness, be that seed they tried to bury but wasn’t ready to stay buried

It’s okay to have bad days,

It’s okay to make mistakes,

It’s okay to not get it right the first time,

It’s okay not to be okay

BUT

It is not okay to give up,

It is not okay to settle,

It is not okay to look back.

Keep your eyes on the prize

Stay focused

Shalom.
