REVIEWS
I have been reading Ife Oluwa’s book, Hidden in his strength, this weekend which touches solely on this topic and I encourage every parent to read this book.
This particular page struck me where she talked about predators thriving on the victim’ silence. That is why they continue in their immoral ways because victims have been shamed into keep quiet.
Enough is enough.
Maybe one day I will have the courage to share my story of escaping an attempted molestation by a man who was prominent in my parent’s church.
Hidden In His Strength This book took me on a journey to unbride my wounds, even those i didn’t know i had. I flooded her WhatsApp with messages. I shared things i have NEVER shared with anyone before because this book brought them to light, it helped me trace the roots. I remember she kept asking “Ayinke, how did you survive all these? How?”. I don’t know how i survived, honestly.
The STORY TELLING deserves an A+. I was just smiling because someone had told me to get my story telling game on. I was captivated. I was carried along. I felt like i was sitting right in front of her. I could picture every scenario. I could smell every description.
Another thing that stood out for me is the balance between spirituality and therapy. I use spirituality because i am not a fan of religion. There can be no true healing without the GOD effect. Take it from me. Christian, Muslim, you still need GOD in your healing. He constitutes the beginning, centre and end.
This book also highlights how you can identify and help a sexually abused person. It doesn’t matter if you have never been abused sexually, you can help someone. You do not need a degree in Psychology to be able to help someone.
Reading books is one of the ways I invest deeply in myself. Readers are Leaders they say, right?
I have read all kinds of books – finance, business, motivation and more…..
Although I have read all these kinds of books, I haven’t read any on RAPE until about a month ago.
Based on what I learnt from that book, I know it is VERY IMPORTANT that I share the book with you too………THIS IS NOT AN AD!
You see, your precious daughter or son may be under your roof and they may be going through sexual abuse right now. They may have been abused and you know nothing about it. They may have been abused by that Uncle you trust so much or that family friend you can’t live without or even that nanny or school teacher to whom you entrust your child.
There are signs to look out for when a child is abused, been abused or have suffered sexual molestation of any kind.
In this book I read, “Hidden in His Strength”. You have a step by step guide on:
**how to help your child stay safe even when you are not with them
**How to notice signs of any form of sexual abuse
**How to help a sexually abused child
**How to prevent the circle of sexual abuse
**How to find healing for you or your child if you or them have been sexually abused.
Research shows that 8 out of 10 girls in Africa will be sexually abused before they turn 18.
Guess what, many of us ADULTS still carry the guilt of the sexual abuse we suffered as children. Some adults have been recently abused but can’t just deal with it.
If any of the above describes you, and no matter where you are in the world, go and download the book right now.
That Evil Uncle who just happens to be a paedophile does not have the sign written on his head and that mad Nanny does not have Sexual Abuser written on her head.
You have work to do, especially because of your child. Keep them safe, keep them protected – both the boys and the girls.
I sincerely believe you would find healing if you, your child or your family member have suffered any kinds of sexual abuse.
For me, this book is a 5 Star.
Thanks to the Author – Ife Oluwa
