I had the privilege to attend a retreat last weekend organised by my very good friend/sister (Fresis) if theres any word like that 🙂  the lovely, delectable Detola Amure (The founder of the Super Working Mum group/Super Working Mum Academy. The author of the amazon best seller “The Super working Mum book”).

I’m sure y’all are wondering what does this even mean? When people hear “Super working mum”, what usually comes to mind is a Multitasking, ever present, always attending to the needs of everyone,  strong woman, well yeah you got it right but the “super” in this context actually refers to a woman who relies on God’s super strength to get things done and a lot of us can totally relate with that right.

Back to my experience over the last weekend, the venue was at the Ashburnham place in East sussex , that was my first time there actually, there is something spooky about that place (Spooky in a good way lol). As soon as the car swerved into the venue, I could feel some sort of calmness, serenity, peace and I could feel his presence all around me. I thought to my self, Jesus is definitely here.  I loved the venue, the view, the calmness about the place. Although this is my 4th retreat to date but I can truly say Its my best retreat yet, And to think I stayed for just one night (Please don’t ask me why).

I made new friends, formed new relationships, engaged with the ladies, It feels wonderful to be surrounded by like minded Godly women whose passion for God is unwavering, the worship was beautiful and intense, we truly experienced his presence. The presence of the Lord was evident in our midst, chains were broken, healing took place, emotional mountains were moved. The guest speaker taught us a new way to pray which is called the breather prayer technique, which by the way I’ve been practicing ever since I got back and I’m loving it. One very important question which the guest speaker asked and I took away with me which I am probably going to ask you is “What are you holding on to and what are you running away from”I will leave it right there, ponder on it.

Most importantly we cried, we laughed, we played, we fellowshipped and above all we heard from God. And I can truly say each one of us heard and encountered God in a new way. I drew strength from the ladies, I heard stories that made me cry, above all, I learned and I’m better, stronger and this has made me to want to do more for the people that I’m called to reach out to, I will keep fighting, will keep praying and I won’t stop being a blessing to the people around me until God calls me home. I’m determined now more than ever to make a change to my world.

It was indeed a time of Prayer, Silence and Solitude

Until next time
