Sexual molestation (Assault or abuse) is described as the act of undesired sexual behaviour by one person upon another. When force is used it is described as sexual assault. (Oxford dictionary, 2014).
Child abuse is such a hidden crime and it is difficult to give an accurate evaluation, however 1 in every 6 children experiences sexual abuse before they reach the age of 16 (Stopitnow.org, 2016). In the United Kingdom there is at least 85,000 cases of rape being reported yearly. Sad right!
Awareness has risen in recent times: however, it is still imperative we talk about this issues. Because as sad as it sounds it still happens even to the youngest of them all.
Have you ever been sexually abused, please tell someone, do not keep this to yourself? Seek help. It is not your fault that it happened so do not blame yourself.
Let me share a very short story. A lady was raped by a male friend of hers, but it did not stop there, they started having regular sexual affairs following the initial rape as the guy was able to convince her afterwards of how sorry he was and he did it because he genuinely was attracted to her and guess what she believed him. So many a time people develop some kind of attachment to their abusers especially if it is someone who they trusted. Anyways back to my story she got pregnant and the man involved blatantly refused to take responsibility for the child.
Fast forward 14 years later after having being a single mum to this adorable young chap, toiled day and night and suffered all forms of hardships and heartbreaks. She met a man and got married. She is happily married as I am writing this story.
This could be your story or worse but I can assure you no matter how hard or how bad things might look now; it is never the end of the world. Heavens will smile down on you and you will receive your breakthrough. Rise above your pain, yes you, because i know and i believe you can.
I know there are various non-governmental organisations which has risen to the occasion, in helping people who have been sexually abused, please seek help do not give up and do not cave into the guilt and shame which comes with it. The devil always wants to steal your joy but do not give him the opportunity. He is a liar and a failure.
You might have done things which you are not proud of as a result of past experiences, but eh look on the bright side, you are still alive right! It is never too late, make amends, ask the good Lord for forgiveness, and also most importantly FORGIVE YOURSELF! I can’t stress it enough right; I have repeated in my past blogs posts. Forgiving yourself is your very first path to receiving our healing! (Topic for another day). Yield your life to God, give him absolute control and you will be surprised at how much God is going to turn things around for you and your years of shame and sorrows will be turned around into singing and dancing.
Please say this short prayer with me: Heavenly father I have come to you today, please heal me and make me whole. Restore my body, heal my mind and refresh my spirit. Help me to forgive those who have wronged me and most importantly help me lord on this journey to forgive myself and let go of my past. In Jesus’s mighty name I have prayed.
Psalms 126: 1-6 When the Lord turned around the captivity of Zion, they were like them that dream, then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the brethren, the Lord hath done great things for them. Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the south.
They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing sheaves with him.
Remember you a child of the Most High Shalom!

Self forgiveness is key. Move past your past, Leg go and Let God.
