The Survivor’s Walk was a great success thanks to you, you made it possible and I am pleased to say you brought smiles to those girl’s faces and that feeling is incredibly priceless.

Thank you so much for taking out time to support and give towards “The Survivor’s Walk” to say I appreciate you is indeed the least I can say, My heart is full of Joy and Heaven blesses you.

The walk was borne out of my own personal experience of rape and sexual abuse. The focus is to end the culture of silence amongst survivors and victims and to get victims/survivors to speak up and out.

We had great feedback from some of the Volunteers

Here is what Aminat a mum of three children and a fashion designer from Osogbo South western Nigeria had to say about her experience at the walk…

“The Survivor’s walk’ the whole experience was an eye opener for me, infact it was awesome…..

Whenever I hear of any case of rape especially in children it gives me goosebumps.

I have been looking forward to a platform where this menace can be tackled, when I saw this great platform of yours on Facebook, i was so happy to join you in the fight to tackle the issue of rape……

During the experience, i have learnt to create more awareness about rape, i have learnt to shower love to victims and give them hope that their situation is not the end, and also to enlighten parents to watch out for there kids and never stigmatize them, and most of it is to “speak out”.. My Confidence has gone a notch higher”.

We had about 30 volunteers,

The Walk spanned over a course of 3 days.

We had the opportunity to reach about 400 school students educating them about sexual abuse/rape.

We were able to reach about 200 adults speaking to them on how to listen and protect their kids from harm, they were ready to learn and they received us with open arms.

We had over 20 one sessions with different girls offering Counselling sessions and one on support.

We did 10 Chlamydia tests and offered support for the girls.

We gave out monthly supplies of sanitary Towels to 60 girls in the community and we had a Gospel concert where 150 people got the gift of salvation.

We were able to raise £2600 for this project and I would like to say a very big thank you to everyone who gave in cash and in kind, a detailed report of the events of the three days has been published on the website, Kindly check it here

Thank you for being a part of this success story.

I am indeed grateful, I am only a vessel in Abba’s hands and thank you for making a dream become reality. The work has only just begun.
