Since I started being open about my journey, I have received quite a number of messages from people sharing similar experiences.
Some of the phrases which most of these messages have in common are listed below and by the way I can totally relate with most of these questions because these were questions that I used to ask myself all the time.
“But why me” “Oh I hate him” “I feel dirty” “I feel used” “I don’t think I can ever forgive him” “You don’t understand” “I will never forgive myself” “My Mum said it’s all my fault” “I have lost my self worth” “I have lost my Value” “I need help”
I will be dealing with these phrases one after the other in a series of posts which I will be rolling out bi-weekly.
Today I will writing on the “But why me” Question.
WHY ME?
Here is my answer from my own experience and head knowledge. This answer by the way is based on my own journey and walk with God. You might have a totally different answer, I don’t think there is ever a right or wrong answer to this question. However these answers are based on my own personal journey and walk with Abba.
Let me take us back to the bible in the book of John 10;10
The KJV Versions says “The thief cometh not, but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they may have life and have it more abundantly.
The NLT Version says “The Thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My Purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
Now I want us to take note of the word purpose in the NLT version. The Oxford dictionary describes PURPOSE as the reason why something exists or the reason why something is being done. Also take not of the word REASON.
Okay the only reason why the Devil exists is to steal your Joy and to destroy you in the process. The devil’s main purpose is for you not to fulfil your purpose. When you have purpose it drives you, your purpose makes you wake up in the morning, you run with your purpose on a daily basis especially when you are very passionate about your purpose.
Now the devil is a powerful individual and He is very passionate and purposeful therefore He will stop at nothing to put sand in your garri. He will stop at nothing to ensure that you are struck down, beaten, battered. Many times he concentrates on people who he knows that God has a special purpose for their lives. Because he’s in a constant battle with God anyways and will constantly ensure that he puts down all of God’s masterpiece.
And guess what you are a MASTERPIECE
Now lets go back to the second part of the John 10:10b My Purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
The reason why Jesus died is just right there. He didn’t die for that messed up life that you have, He died for what your future is like. All you need to do is pick up the pieces thats left, focus on the future that Jesus shed His blood for, look the devil right in the eye and tell him, you’ve got nothing on me.
Now Here is what I have done, I have managed to stop hating or lashing out at the Individual who molested me, I am mad at the the spirit which drives them to do the wicked things that they do which is the devil the master planner himself and I have then turned my anger into positive anger where I look the devil in the eye on a daily basis and say ‘Devil you’ve got nothing on me”.
Convert your negative anger into positive anger and run with it. Convert all your anger into the things which drives you, put all that emotions into your business, your career, your education, your art, your craft, your talents and gifts anything you’ve chosen to do. as hard as it sounds its possible.
The devil wants to see you constantly knocked and beaten down, He Has done His best, Now you do your best and you have an advantage you have Christ on your side, make use of that advantage and beat him to His game. Dust yourself up, look him right in the eye and run with your purpose. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for.
Jeremiah 1:5 says “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.
Now yours might not necessarily be being a prophet, but you were created for a reason. God had something in mind when your Dad’s sperm fertilised your mum’s egg and formed your embryo. And guess what the devil fought tooth and nail to make sure that you were never brought forth. But He lost the battle the day you cried in your Momma’s arms. However, He knew he had lost, He wouldn’t give up just like that, which is why he would keep looking for ways to keep you down. If He isn’t giving up why then do you want to give up. You can’t give up, you gotta keep fighting.
Do me a favour, write “I am a Victorious, I survived and I am not a Victim” on a small piece of paper and stick it right on top of your head board of your bed. When you wake up and see that every morning and you say it long enough it becomes your reality.
